Embark on an exciting educational journey with STEM Literacy Adventures, a dynamic unit designed to ignite the curiosity of elementary students about the wonders of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Our program aims to foster a deep understanding of STEM concepts while enhancing critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
What You'll Learn
Scholars will conduct a literary analysis of a STEM-based book focusing on various elements, including the themes, characters, plot, and how the book engages young readers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Science of Reading is a comprehensive and evidence-based approach to teaching and learning to read. It is grounded in research and focuses on understanding the cognitive processes and linguistic principles involved in reading. Here are some key methods and principles associated with the Science of Reading: phonemic Awareness and Phonics, Vocabulary Instruction, Comprehension Strategies, and Morphology and Syntax.
Sample Class Format
Intro- 10 minutes
Book Reading - 15 minutes
Literature Analysis- 15 minutes
Science of Reading Activities- 15 minutes
Conclusion- 5 minutes
For the first 3 families that sign up we will waive the $25 yearly family membership and they will have access to STEM LIT free all year 2023-2024 either virtually or in-person classes.
